Homemade Steak Sauce - Easy as A1, 2, 3, and it's Fat Free!

Wednesday December 19, 2007
Steak PhotoAmerican's love their steak. Whether pan-fried, grilled or broiled, many also enjoy a splash of steak sauce to compliment the flavor of the beef. There was a time when using steak sauce was considered quite the culinary faux pas (pardon my French), but today their use is increasing in popularity and store shelves are lined with countless versions and varieties. Some are hot and spicy, some are just glorified barbecue sauces, and then there are the old-school brands we've seen on restaurant tables for decades.

I just did a "how to" video on my version of homemade steak sauce. It's a surprisingly simple recipe and doesn't have the long list of ingredients found in many "copycat" steak sauce recipes. I believe it has a really nice balance between sweet, tangy, spicy and savory. Great on steak, this versatile sauce can also be served with almost any grilled meats. And yes, like it says in the title, it's fat-free! This is a great recipe to use as a base to experiment with by adding your own touches. Give it a try and tell me what you think, and how you tweaked it. Enjoy.
