Makes 8 Servings of Basic Cornbread Dressing

Cook Time: 55 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 (9-inch) pan cornbread, crumbled
- 8 slices white bread, lightly toasted, broken into small pieces
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoons ground black pepper
- cayenne pepper, to taste
- 1 egg, beaten
Preparation:
In a sauté pan over medium heat, melt the butter; add the onions, and sauté until the onions are soft. Add the garlic, and sauté for another minute, then remove from heat. Add the crumbled cornbread and white bread to a large bowl. Add the onions, broth, and the rest of the ingredients. Mix thoroughly.Spoon into a buttered baking dish, and bake at 350 degree F for 40 minutes. Cover with foil if the top begins to get to browned. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
