Spicy Orange Chicken Wings Recipe

Spicy Orange Chicken Wings Recipe

This spicy orange chicken wings glaze recipe is inspired by the most popular entrée at a certain Chinese fast food chain (who's mascot may, or may not be a panda). This great spicy orange glaze is meant to coat a batch of these oven-fried Buffalo chicken wings.

Makes enough glaze for about 5 lbs of chicken wings

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes


  • 3 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 1 tbsp finely grated fresh ginger, optional
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, optional
  • 2 tablespoons Sambal, or other Asian-style chili paste to taste, or may sub red pepper flakes to taste
  • 1 cup orange jam or marmalade, (strain if contains an excess of orange rind pieces)
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • "oven-fried" Buffalo chicken wings (see recipe link below)


Add the glaze ingredients to a saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook, stirring, for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and reserve. When the chicken wings are done, transfer into a large mixing bowl, and while still hot, pour over enough of the glaze to coat. Toss until all the chicken wings are coated well, and let stand for 5 minutes. Toss again and transfer onto a serving platter.
