Walnut pie is one of the simplest pie recipes there is, and makes a great dessert for any meal, especially those around the holidays. If you want, this walnut pie recipe may be altered with different nuts, such as pecans and macadamia.

Makes 1 Walnut Pie

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour


  • frozen and thawed, or fresh pastry for single-crust 9 1/2-lnch pie dish
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups roughly chopped walnut halves


Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

In a mixing bowl, beat eggs with a whisk until foamy. Pour in the melted butter and whisk until mixed. Add the brown sugar, white sugar, milk, flour, salt, and vanilla; mix well. Stir in the walnuts.

Pour filling into the prepared pie shell. Bake for 10 minutes at 400 degrees F., then reduce temperature to 350 degrees F. and bake for another 35 to 40 minutes, or until the crust in browned and filling is set.

""THis recipe tastes Great is very easy to doctor up! & experiment with different filling combo's!""It litterally took me 5 min to make the filling>"" I added about 1 cup walnuts,dident have vanilla so i substituted a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg! I also substituted the original pie crust for a Keebler homemade press in Grahm cracker crust and melted 3 ozs of semi sweet bakers chocolate to layer the top of that before adding the pie mixture. It is a must you start your oven out on 400 for 10min then lower to 350 because normal household ovens vary,also beating the egg mixture with a blender before baking whips a lot more air in the mixture and prevents the pie from being runny as a end rusult...After cooled for 30 min or so a Dallop of whipped cream on top to break up flavor if desired would be great as well..This is a rich pie!remember (you can always add less sugar in your recipes)..Hope this helps!
