California Peach and Almond Crisp Recipe

What's better when fresh peaches are in season, than a delicious peach crisp? This crisp recipe also has sliced almonds in the topping, which adds an extra crunch. Any fresh fruit or berries can be adapted to this crisp recipe if peaches aren’t available.

Makes 8 Servings

Ingredients:

  • Topping
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • .
  • Peach Filling
  • 6 cups peaches, peeled, pitted and sliced (4-6 peaches)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Stir together all topping ingredients except almonds in a small bowl with a fork until it resembles coarse crumbs; set aside. Stir together all filling ingredient in a medium bowl and transfer to an 8- or 9-inch shallow baking dish. Crumble topping over the peach mixture and sprinkle with almonds. Bake for 30 minutes or until peach mixture is hot and bubbly and topping is golden brown.
