This is the hot dog's holy land. Nathan Handwerker opened his first hot dog stand in Coney Island, NY in 1916, where he sold his "frankfurters" for a nickel each. Today, Nathan's is best known for its Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest which has been held at the original location since the place opened. Who ever can eat the most hot dogs in twelve-minutes wins the coveted title.
