Dressing and Bread Stuffing Recipes

By John Mitzewich, About.com

Stuffing and dressing recipes are really the same thing, with stuffing being cooked inside the turkey, or other bird, and dressing recipes being cooked in a baking dish separately. No matter what they're called, these recipes can be used either way.

Many people look forward to the holidays just for these savory bread stuffings and dressing. Who knows, maybe you'll like one of these delicious recipes so much, that you won't just wait for the holidays to enjoy it.

While this is a fairly standard bread-style dressing, the addition of the sautéed apples really makes it something special. Not only does it add another layer of flavor, but also makes for a more nutritious dish. Apples and fresh sage are a natural pairing that go well with almost any roasted meat or poultry.

Nothing fancy here, just a delicious, traditional cornbread dressing (also know as cornbread stuffing if used inside that holiday turkey). You can alter this basic dressing in many ways, such as adding sausage, peppers, or green onions.

This classic bread dressing recipe is given a modern twist with fresh tarragon, an herb that pair perfectly with poultry. Use this dressing recipe to stuff a chicken or thanksgiving turkey, or cook it separately and serve along side.

A sweet and nutty stuffing recipe that's homey enough for a weeknight chicken, and fancy enough for that special holiday turkey. This stuffing also works beautifully as a dressing recipe cooked in the oven separately.
