This simple creamy Italian dressing recipe is lighter in texture and calories than traditional recipes. Many creamy Italian dressing recipes are nothing more than a flavored mayonnaise, but this version is a true creamy, vinaigrette-style salad dressing.

- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 tbsp water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried Italian herb blend
- 1 clove crushed and finely minced garlic
Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and whisk vigorously until emulsified. Refrigerated overnight for best results, but may be served immediately. May be stored for several weeks in the refrigerator. Stir well before serving.
