Northern Alabama-Style White Barbecue Sauce Recipe

This white barbecue sauce recipe from the northern part of Alabama may be America's most unusual barbecue sauce recipe. It doesn’t contain any tomato, but uses mayonnaise as the base, which is where this barbecue sauce recipe gets its name.

Makes 2 Cups of Northern Alabama-Style White Barbecue Sauce

Prep Time: 05 minutes

Cook Time: 00 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste

Preparation:

Whisk together all ingredients in a small bowl until blended. Brush a little on meat for just the last few minutes of cooking. Brush more on after meat comes off the barbecue.
